With a toque on my head
And in a white suit I am
An apron tied around my waist
So is a knife in my hand
A pair of kitchen mittens for sure
Defrost todays viandes
Ready for the mis en place
Ready, here I come
With the stove turned on
And a sauce pan on the fire
Like the flame that heats our meals
To cook is my desire
Now here comes the garlic
Sautéed till done with butter
Put a little stock on high heat
For me to set the pan on fire
Next up is the fish
Tuna tidbits to be exact
Add a little of this, and a little of that
And juice from a lemon I shall extract
Some oyster sauce perhaps?
And julienned carrots sure will do
A can aux champignons
Sliced with my sharp couteau
While waiting for my chance to gather
All the pieces with a spoon
I still get to make time
To hum this merry tune
And with the tuna medium rare,
Determined, I do my part
A chefs heart will sing and dance
As he shares his work of art.
